Description	:	Harlan Glen Koele, age 78, of Sioux Center, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021, at his home in Sioux Center. There will be a funeral service on Friday, October 8, at 1:30pm, at the Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. Jesse Henkle will officiate. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the church. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Read More	Harlan Glen Koele, age 78, of Sioux Center, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021, at his home in Sioux Center. Harlan Glen was born on December 13, 1942, in Hull, one of eight children born to Henry D. and Minnie (Post) Koele. He was raised in Hull, where he attended the public school. Following his graduation from high school, he started working for the Hull Creamery, where he met his future wife, Jurleen Cae Van Der Zwaag. Harlan and Jurleen were united in marriage on February 7, 1964, at the Middleburg Reformed Church. They first lived in Sioux Center, where Harlan worked for the city's maintenance department. In 1966 they moved to Le Mars, where they raised their family and Harlan worked for Well's Blue Bunny until accepting a position in sales for Harker's Distribution. He remained at Harker's for over 21 years, retiring as their vice president of marketing and sales in 1988. They also lived in Luverne, Minnesota. When Harlan retired, they moved to their favorite vacation spot on Lake Miltona, near Alexandria, Minnesota. They also enjoyed many winters at their home in The Villages in Florida. In 2013, they returned to Northwest Iowa, and settled in Sioux Center. Harlan was currently a member of the Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center and a former member of the Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars, the American Reformed Church in Luverne, Alexandria Covenant Church in Alexandria, and the New Covenant Methodist Church in The Villages. Harlan enjoyed outdoor activities including snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and golfing. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and was a devoted caregiver and partner to his wife. He will be greatly missed by his wife of more than 57 years, Jurleen, of Sioux Center, his two children and their spouses, Cristi and Craig Bauerly, of Le Mars, and Chad and Peggy Koele, of Baltimore, Maryland; five grandchildren, Kelsey, and her husband, Robb Langel; Caitlin Bauerly; Hank Koele; Hunter Koele; and Hallie Koele; two great-grandchildren, Brooks and Will Langel; six siblings, Joy Crew; Tylene, and her husband, Ron Egdorf; Milt Koele, and his wife, Patty; Donna, and her husband, Virg Van Ommeren; Twila, and her husband, Dan Van Donge; and Brad Koele, and his wife, Gloria; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Lorin and Marilyn Schafer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son; a sister, Ruth Schafer; and a brother-in-law, Ron Crew. Memorials may be directed to the Central Reformed Church Missions Fund.
