Description	:	Harlan H. Ehmke, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 19, 2018, at the Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska. The funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 24, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus with Pastor Brandon Foster officiating, followed by a luncheon. Interment will be at 3:30 P.M. on Tuesday, April 24, at Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse, NE, followed by a reception at Luther Memorial Church in Syracuse. Harlan was born in Palmyra, Nebraska and graduated from Avoca High School where he played basketball and baseball. He married Phyllis Ehmke on December 15, 1955. Harlan served in the Army for two years during the Korean War. He and Phyllis lived in Syracuse and Wayne, Nebraska before finally settling in Columbus, Nebraska where they raised five children. He worked as an electrical lineman for Loup Public Power District until he retired in 1998. Harlan coached and loved to watch his children and grandchildren play in many sports. He also enjoyed playing bridge and pitch with friends and at the VFW. Harlan was a family man in all aspects of his life and video recorded every family event he could. Harlan is survived by his son Mitchell Ehmke of Columbus, Nebraska; daughter, Cami Warneke and husband Blake of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Michael Ehmke and wife Jacki of Gretna, Nebraska; daughter Cori Fitch of Rapid City, South Dakota; daughter Billie Aguilar and husband Alan of Parker, Colorado; brother Harold Ehmke and wife Terry of Avoca, Nebraska; grandchildren Blake Kucera, Zach and Taylor Warneke, Austin and Hanna Ehmke, Madison and Avrianna Fitch, and Alexander Aguilar; numerous extended family and friends. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents Harry Ehmke and Minnie (Homfeldt) Ehmke, wife Phyllis Ehmke, and sister Marlene Vokoun..
