Lavina Shoffner officiating. Mr. Hansen died March 10, 2001 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Omaha. He was born April 1, 1920, on a farm in Mitchell County near St. Ansgar to Harrie and Laurine (Nelson) Hansen. He attended country school and Osage High School. He served in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II. He worked for the Cedar Valley Rural Electric Cooperative in Mitchell County. He and his wife moved to Woodbine in 1955 and he worked for the Harrison County Rural Electric Cooperative as a line superintendent and later as assistant manager. In 1978, they purchased and operated the hardware store in Woodbine. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Woodbine and had served in many church positions. He served on many boards over the years, including the Missouri River Front Development Board Zoning, Landfill, Harrison County and Woodbine Development, Woodbine Municipal Light Plant, Harrison County Red Cross. He served as Republican Party county chairman and helped found the Republican Chairman's Club. He had been a member of the Woodbine Kiwanis and served as its president. Mr. Hansen and his wife, Elaine (Byrd), were married March 29, 1943. Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Linda Westfall, of San Diego; two sons, Kent and wife, Renita, of Portland, Ore., and Brad and wife, Lisa, of Greenville, S. C.; a brother, Galin, and wife, Lois, of McIntyre; and five granddaughters. A prayer service will be tonight at 7 at the First United Methodist Church in Woodbine, followed by visitation with the family until 8:30. Burial will be in the Woodbine Cemetery.
