Description	:	Harlan O "Pat" Nelson OGDEN - Harlan Ordway "Pat" Nelson succumbed to natural causes on May 8, 1998 at the Ogden Rehabilitation Nursing Home. Pat was born in a covered wagon in Indian Territory, or now, Phillips, South Dakota where his parents, Chris and Christina Nelson had gone to homestead. They "proved up" the land and then moved to Platte County, Nebraska. Pat graduated from St. Edward High School where he excelled in sports. Pat was born in a covered wagon in Indian Territory, or now, Phillips, South Dakota where his parents, Chris and Christina Nelson had gone to homestead. They "proved up" the land and then moved to Platte County, Nebraska. Pat graduated from St. Edward High School where he excelled in sports. Pat enlisted in the Navy and was assigned to the Asiatic Fleet, sailing on the BARKER #213. In 1931 Pat was honorably discharged and returned to St Edward, Nebraska. He was married to Hazel Catherine Burke on November 15, 1931. May of 1936 Pat and Hazel and their children, Tim and Chloe, moved to San Leandro, California where Pat began working for Caterpillar Tractor Company. During their stay in California, Pat enjoyed fishing and hunting. After eighteen years, Pat was transferred to Peoria, Illinois. They said their goodbyes to many wonderful friends. Pat was transferred in order to accept the responsibility of setting up a new plant in Decatur, Illinois. After thirty-six happy, fruitful years, Pat retired from Caterpillar. In 1970 Pat and Hazel built a home in the Sierra Mountains. Eventually Pat and Hazel went to live in Marshall, Missouri to be close to their son, Tim and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Wilson Nelson. Hazel passed on in Marshall, Missouri on July 24, 1989. Pat then moved to Denver, Colorado to live with his daughter, Chloe. Pat is survived by his daughter, Chloe Nelson Treanor of Ogden, Utah; a sister, Lulu N Winter of Lincoln, Nebraska, and a brother, Ernest L Nelson of Castro Valley, California. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Pat will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date for friends and family. Funeral directors, Leavitt's Chapel of Flowers Mortuary. Cremation under the direction of Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Crematory.
