Agena, 70, Sterling, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 1990 at a Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh. He was born Oct. 24, 1919, at Sterling, son of Harm D. and Margaret Wohlers Agena. Agena lived and farmed in the Sterling area all of his life. He worked for Waymire Well Company of Sterling, the National Crane Company of Waverly and drove the Sterling Handi-van. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sterling; American Legion Post No. 140 of Sterling; the Johnson County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3221 of Tecumseh and served on the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service Board. Agena served in the Pacific Theatre in World War II. He is survived by his two sons, Randy and his wife Kate, and Leslie and his wife Susan, all of Sterling; one brother, Ehler, of Tecumseh and four grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, his wife Dorothy Mattox Agena in 1981; two brothers and three sisters. The funeral was Saturday , Oct. 6, at St. John Lutheran Church, Sterling. The Rev. Stanley W. Floth officiated. Members of America Legion Post No. 140 conducted graveside services at the Sterling Cemetery. Zink Mortuary, Sterling was in charge of arrangements.
