He married Greta Thiele in 1860 and their 7 children were born in the Extum, Aurich area. The family emigrated in 1884 to Grundy Co, Iowa. Harm, Greta and family eventually moved further west to Charles Mix Co, SD while son Frank remained in Grundy Co. Harms brother, Anton and family also emigrated to the Platte area and settled nearby.
