Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2009, at the United Methodist Church, Nashua with Pastor Okitakoyi Lundula officiating. Music for the service will be provided by Nelda Shepherd as organist and Tracy McGregor as violinist. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery with Scott Lodge, Scott McGregor, Randy Holthaus, Clark McGregor, LeRoy Cerwinske and Wesley Poley as casket bearers. Barlow was born December 8, 1918, on the Barlow family farm in rural Floyd County, IA, the son of Guy and Jessie (Smith) Barlow. He received his education in Nashua graduating from the Nashua High School in 1936. On December 3, 1944, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, he married Helen Bennor. To this union three children were born. After serving his country, Harold and Helen started farming north of Nashua and he continued in the family farming operation until his last day. Helen died on October 30, 2009 at the age of 83. Harold loved all sporting events and followed the Iowa Hawkeye's as well as attending all the sporting events that his grandchildren were involved in. He served on the Nashua Fair Board for over 40 years, was a member of the Nashua VFW Post and a 4-H leader for many years. Survivors include one son, Garry (Debra) Barlow of Nashua; one daughter, Linda (Wayne) Gabrielson of Longmont, CO; two grandchildren, Amber Barlow, Adam (Brittany) Barlow and one great-grandson, Lane Barlow. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Richard Barlow and one brother, Curtis Barlow Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home
