He was born November 8, 1924, at Roane County, a son of the late Vaught and Oma Lanham Fisher. He was an Army veteran and retired from General Motors, where he was a truck driver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Carroll, Eugene, Clarence, Russell, Warren, Harry and Billy Fisher, and sisters, Audrey Pfost and Thelma Fisher.
