Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. CST Friday, March 11, at St. John Church, Hebron, with the Rev. Martin Nussbaum officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Harold was born Dec. 7, 1924, at Hebron, the son of August and Elizabeth (Ebel) Sayler. He was raised and educated at Hebron and confirmed at the German Congregational Church in Hebron. Harold married Irene Opp Nov. 5, 1950, at the German Congregational Church in Glen Ullin. Following marriage, he farmed in partnership with his father and brother. He was a lifelong farmer and dairyman who enjoyed working the land and repairing his machinery, even manufacturing his own parts. He was a free thinker that was not afraid to go against grain of public opinion. While working with his children on the farm, he tested their limits and tried to instill good values in their lives. He was always proud of his children and grandchildren and the things they have accomplished. He served his church and community well over the years as a member of the St. John Church and former council member; he served for 18 years as the secretary of the Hebron Co-op Creamery, and was a fireman with the Hebron Fire Dept. Harold retired from farming in 1993. He died late in the night of March 7 while a patient at Medcenter One in Bismarck. Those left to share his memory include his wife, 2 daughters, 2 sons, 6 grandchildren, and 1 sister. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Eugene, Edwin and Benjamin; and one sister, Clara Johnson. =============================
