He was horn Dec. 1, 1912 in Somerset, Ohio to Albert and Louella (Arnold) Leckrone. He lived in North Manchester since 1929. He was married May 27, 1933 to Mary Louise Heeter, who survives. A daughter, Patricia Egolf, No. Manchester, and a son, Michael of Middleton, Wisconsin, survive along with seven grand-children and two great-grandchildren. One sister and two brothers are deceased. He was a retired music teacher, and taught at the following schools: Mentone, Churubusco, Monon, Goodland, Chester Twp., Manchester High School, Indianapolis Public Schools, Silver Lake and South Whitley. He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church in No. Manchester, Deming Lodge # 88, F & AM, Ivy Chapter # 69 of Eastern Star, Moose Lodge, No. Manchester Historical Society, Butler University Alumni Association. He was grand marshal of the No. Manchester Fun-Fest Parade in 1980 and in 1987 he received the Service Above Self award from the No. Manchester Rotary Club. He founded the present Manchester Civic Band in 1976. He wrote the Manchester High School and Junior High School school songs. The Manchester High School song was used in the movie "Hoosiers." In 1925, he was a member of a state honors band conducted by John Philip Sousa at the Ohio State Fair. He was a 1933 graduate of Manchester College. In 1957, he received his master's degree from Butler University. He did graduate work at Vandercook School of Music in Chicago and at Indiana University. The funeral was at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bender Funeral Home in No. Manchester, with the Rev. James Overholt officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, No. Manchester.
