Description	:	Harold A. Axtell Sr., 74, of Muscatine, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at his home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Spangler United Methodist Church. The Rev. Brenda Goodall will officiate, Burial will be at the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the units of the V.F.W. Post 1545 and the American Legion Post 27. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Spangler United Methodist Church. The Rev. Brenda Goodall will officiate, Burial will be at the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the units of the V.F.W. Post 1545 and the American Legion Post 27. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established at the funeral home. He was born July 24, 1927, in Letts, Iowa, the son of Roy L. and Maude M. (Clevenger) Axtell. On November 29, 1947, he married Alma E. Wakefield in Wapello, Iowa. He served in the United States Army-Air Force from 1945 - 1947 during World War II with the 5th Army Air Corps. He worked for Krieger Motors of Muscatine in the auto body shop for 20 years. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, American Legion Post 27 and the V.F.W. Post 1545 of Muscatine. He liked to spend time fishing, playing and coaching softball, coin hunting and driving stock cars, especially # 44 senior. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Alma, of Muscatine; five sons, Larry Axtell of Davenport, Harold Axtell Jr. and his wife, Margarite, of Racine, Minn., Gary Axtell and his wife, Sandra, of Elks Creek, Va., Garold Axtell and his wife, Darla, of King, N.C., and Robert C. Axtell and his wife, Cindy, of Muscatine; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo Axtell and his wife, Evelyn, of Letts; three sisters, Betty and her husband, Less, of Davenport, Mary J. Saultz and her husband, Charles, of Muscatine and Violet Coder of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren, two sisters Dorothy Shock and Mae Bailey and four brothers Maylan, Thomas, Cleo and Raymond.
