Description	:	Harold August Schlichtemeier was born on February 7, 1913 at home near Hallam, Nebraska. He was the son of Frank and Hannah Schlichtemeier, one of seven children. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. He was baptized by Pastor Schwarz on March 30, 1913, and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church on May 22, 1927, by Pastor Cholcher. The... Read More	Harold August Schlichtemeier was born on February 7, 1913 at home near Hallam, Nebraska. He was the son of Frank and Hannah Schlichtemeier, one of seven children. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. He was baptized by Pastor Schwarz on March 30, 1913, and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church on May 22, 1927, by Pastor Cholcher. Harold attended school both in public school, District 11, and at St. John's Parochial School. He was married to Blanche Hollman on August 30, 1935, at the parsonage of St. John's by Pastor Pebler. The couple had two daughters, Elaine Keller and Ruth Ourecky; six grandchildren, Daniel Keller and wife, Kate, Doug Keller, Jackie Keller, Dean Keller (all of Crete), Stephen Ourecky and Lisa Ourecky, who are from Wilber; and three great-grandchildren. Harold lived in this area all of his life. This is also where he farmed and was involved in the community. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he was an elder, a trustee and sang in the male chorus and choir for many year. While he was still farming, he was a board member at the Kramer Co-op for six years. After he retired, he continued to work for the Co-op and also worked as a part-time custodian in the Crete Public School. He enjoyed hunting and trapping and listening to music. Harold entered the Crete Hospital on December 26, 1985, and died on January 10, 1986. He is survived by his wife, Blanche, daughters and sons-in-law, Leon and ELaine Keller of rural Crete and Lawrence and Ruth Ourecky of rural Wilber; sister, Esther Herpolsheimer; brother Melvin Schlichtemeier; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held January 13 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kramer with Pastor John Heckmann officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
