Description	:	Harold B. Brown, 79, of Rt. 3, Box 52AA, died Monday at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital, following a long illness. Born December 8, 1897 at Clay Center, Kansas, and he moved to the Thorp area with his parents, the late John J. and Alice Gates Brown, when he was five. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War I, then homesteaded in the Badger Pocket area after he and Dorothy Ippisch were married at Spokane in 1920. She preceded him in death in 1963. Born December 8, 1897 at Clay Center, Kansas, and he moved to the Thorp area with his parents, the late John J. and Alice Gates Brown, when he was five. He served in the U. S. A 50-year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ellensburg, his other affiliations included the American Legion, World War I Barracks, Moose Lodge and Nanum Grange. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Melvin, of Quincy; one daughter, Mrs. R. B. (Evelyn) McClure of Ellensburg; two stepsons, Lynn Sorenson of Woodland Hills, California, and LaVern Sorenson of Othello; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Clarence, of Moses Lake; one half-brother, Herbert of Seattle; and one half-sister, Mrs. Alberta Cole of Topeka, Kansas. He was preceded in death by one son, Barton, in 1955. Funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Evanson Chapel. The Rev. Donald Meekhof will officiate and burial will follow at the IOOF Cemetery. The family suggests memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church. Ellensburg Daily Record, January 26, 1977 Information isn't quite accurate in obit.
