Description	:	Harold C. Sawyer, 82, of Dayton, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at the Boone County Hospital. Visitation will be today (July 13) from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., at Carson Funeral Home in Dayton, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. Pastor L.J. Hartley and Pastor Keith Putney will officiate. Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Woodlawn Cemetery in North Bend, Nebraska. Harold Clinton Sawyer was born on June 6, 1925, in Bassett, Nebraska, the son of Walter and Elenore (Taylor) Sawyer. He attended schools in the area of his birth. Harold was united in marriage to Eunice Vosler in 1945. They later divorced. He married Alese R. Sawyer on March 6, 1955. She passed away on February 20, 1985. Harold was employed by People's Natural Gas for 35 years, retiring as a manager in 1985. He had lived in Nebraska, Iowa and Texas. After retiring Harold and longtime companion Deb Geis owned and operated Acreage Antiques near Dayton for nine years. Harold belonged to the United Methodist Church in Dayton. He was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge, and was active in the community of Dayton where he previously owned many rental properties. Survivors include a daughter, Renita (Todd) Walker of Polk City, Iowa; son, David (Mary) Sawyer of Berthoud, Nebraska; longtime companion, Deb Geis of Harcourt, Iowa; six grandchildren, Patty Sawyer, Jeromy Sawyer, Kirby Sawyer, Amy Sawyer, Rachel Shanahan, Patrick Shanahan; seven great-grandchildren, Sandy Sawyer, Bailey Rose Sawyer, Brecken Sawyer, Brynn Sawyer, Parker Sawyer, Scarlett Patrix and Celia Shanahan. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Eunice Vosler in July of 1969; wife, Alese R. Sawyer on February 20, 1985; son, Harold A. Sawyer on March 6, 1972; two brothers; and one sister. Memorials may be left to the United Methodist Church in Dayton.
