Description	:	AYDEN - Mr. Harold Daniel Jones, 71, passed away suddenly Saturday, April 7, 2018. The funeral service will he held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Vanceboro. Burial will follow in Epworth UMC Church Cemetery. Mr. Jones was raised near Dudley Crossroads and graduated from Farm Life High School in Vanceboro. The funeral service will he held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Vanceboro. Burial will follow in Epworth UMC Church Cemetery. Mr. Jones was raised near Dudley Crossroads and graduated from Farm Life High School in Vanceboro. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, rising to the rank of Sargent. Following his military service, Mr. Jones attended and graduated from Pitt Community College. For most of his adult life he farmed in the Clayroot community. He attended Juniper Chapel OFWB Church and was a lifetime member of the Vanceboro VFW. Mr. Jones loved to hunt and spend time outdoors, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Inez Jones; brother, Douglas Jones; and a nephew, Tyler Jones. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Smith Jones; daughter, Misty Jones of Gardnerville; son, Chad M. Jones and wife, Amanda; granddaughters, McKenna, Avery, and Miranda Jones, all of Vanceboro; sister, Jennifer Duzan and husband, Howard, of Alabama; sister-in-law, Nancy Jones of New Bern; brother-in-law, Larry Spike Smith and wife, Cathy, of Clayroot; nieces and nephews, Emily Jackson, Sarah Ford, Kyle Jones, Lauren Jones, Kay Mabe, Lisa Gaskins, Tracy Futrell, and Curtis Cannon. and numerous cousins. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Vanceboro. Memorial contributions may be made to Juniper Chapel FWB Church, 655 Piney Neck Road, Vanceboro, NC 28586 or to the Vanceboro VFW, PO Box 978, Vanceboro, NC 28586.
