Description	:	OTTERBEIN - Harold D. "John" Hands, 72, died 4:37 PM Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in Rosewalk Village, Lafayette. Born April 26, 1932, in Tippecanoe County, he was the son of the late Edward and Blanche Sturgeon Hands. He was a graduate of Montmorenci High School, and had lived in the Montmorenci and Otterbein area his entire life. He married Barbara Davis on July 30, 1950, in Montmorenci; she died Jan. 26, 1989. "John" Hands, 72, died 4:37 PM Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in Rosewalk Village, Lafayette. Born April 26, 1932, in Tippecanoe County, he was the son of the late Edward and Blanche Sturgeon Hands. He was a graduate of Montmorenci High School, and had lived in the Montmorenci and Otterbein area his entire life. He married Barbara Davis on July 30, 1950, in Montmorenci; she died Jan. 26, 1989. Mr. Hands engaged in farming with his father in early life. He then worked as a laborer for Price & Price. He later worked as a construction foreman for Russell F. Davis. He co-owned D&H Builders and H&H Rentals. He also drove a fuel truck for the former Spiker Oil Co. and retired from Kiel Brothers Oil in 1997. He served on the Otterbein Town Council for several years and was a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed yardwork and gardening, and was a handyman. He was an avid A.J. Foyt fan and card player. He was nicknamed "John" by his grandfather. He enjoyed his grandchildren and taught each of them to throw and hit a baseball in his own yard. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. Survivors include a daughter, Deborah (Mrs. Martin) Musser of Otterbein; three sisters, Hazel McDaniel of Lafayette, Marilyn Charlesworth of West Lafayette, and Beulah Hands of Fort Wayne; daughter-in-law, Sally Hands of West Lafayette; brother-in-law, Bob Davis (wife Lu) of Lafayette; sister-in-law, Aldeane Davis of Otterbein; three grandsons, Doug Musser (wife Karyn), Curt Musser (wife Christal), and Johnny Hands; two granddaughters, Carrie (Mrs. Robert) Gephart and Stephani Smith; three great-granddaughters, Hayley, Hanna and Carlee Musser; a special friend, Wilma Mills of Otterbein; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Hands on July 6, 2003; mother and father-in-law, Grace and Wally Davis; brother-in-law, Duane Davis; two brothers and three sisters. --Lafayette Journal & Courier, Sun 11/28/2004
