Description	:	Harold E. Spurgeon, 100, of Ottumwa, died at 6:30 a.m. November 9, 2020 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center after contracting Covid-19. He was born as a triplet June 8, 1920 in Davis County, IA to Herman and Edith White Spurgeon. Harold married Lucille Elizabeth Hill on September 14, 1940 and she preceded him in death after 73 years of marriage on May 23, 2014. He was born as a triplet June 8, 1920 in Davis County, IA to Herman and Edith White Spurgeon. Harold married Lucille Elizabeth Hill on September 14, 1940 and she preceded him in death after 73 years of marriage on May 23, 2014. He then ran Harold’s Delivery, drove for Jim’s Jack & Jill and Packwood Locker as well as operated his lawn mowing service. Harold was a member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. Surviving are his children, Helen (Joe) Traul, Linda (Larry) Sample, Susan Trout, Tom (Donna) Spurgeon and Roger Spurgeon all of Ottumwa; daughter-in-law, Connie Spurgeon of Holly Springs, NC.18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Hazel Brown. He was preceded in death by a son, Dan Spurgeon; 2 grandsons; a great-granddaughter and great-grandson; siblings, Ralph, Hilda, Marie, Helen and Larue; and son-in-law, Dennis Thomas. Limited open visitation will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday November 11th at Reece Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.rfh-ia.com. Private funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, November 12th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Brooks officiating. For those not able to attend the service, you may watch the service live from the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
