Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora. The Rev. Sheryl Kester Beyer will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Harold Eugene Sautter, the son of Lawrence and Alma (Cornell) Sautter, was born at Ord on March 2, 1946, and passed away June 13, 2014, in Lincoln at the age of 68. Harold graduated from Central City High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army for three years before being honorably discharged. Harold was united in marriage to Delores Arlene Dankert on Sept. 19, 1970. He worked at Larson Chevrolet in Central City and then joined the Central City Police Department from 1971 to 73. In the early 1970s, Harold worked at Wheeler's in Grand Island, Ord and Fairbury before opening the Wheeler's Store in Aurora. In 1976, Harold and Delores moved to Seward, where he managed the Wheeler's Store. In 1984, they returned to Aurora, where Harold worked for a time at Wortman's and NAPA, before working first part time for the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department. He was hired full time in 1991 and worked as Deputy Sheriff 9283 until his retirement in 2011. Harold worked part time for Blue Knight Security since then. Harold was very involved in the communities where he lived in Merrick, Seward and Hamilton counties. He was involved in D.A.R.E.: Explorers; Boy Scouts, where Harold earned his Eagle Scout and was also Scout Master for Troop 131; Car Seat Safety; Patriot Guard Riders and Legion Riders; Crime Stoppers and Neighborhood Watch. Harold was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Harold enjoyed traveling, gardening and playing solitaire on his computers. Harold loved his God, country and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Lori Sautter. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dee of Aurora; a son, Jason Sautter of Bellevue; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Jason Berggren of Central City and Jana and Aaron Hatok of North Huntington, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Allissa and Adam Buller, Wade, Zach and Alexis Berggren, Kenzie and Silis McCullick, and Levi and Chloe Hatok; and four brothers and two sisters-in-law, David Sautter of Central City, Don Sautter of Central City, Rod and Dianna Sautter of Bruning and Mark and Lori Sautter of Central City.
