He grew up in the Millersburg are and graduated from the Millersburg High School in 1936. He was baptized at Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church near Millersburg. Harold has made his home and farmed in the North English-Millersburg community since 1946. On August 12, 1951 he was united in marriage to Martha R Siegrist in Denmark , IA. Besides farming Harold sold DeKalk seed corn for 26 years. Harold was a member of the Millersburg United Methodist Church where he served on the church board and as the financial chairman, the American Legion, the Farm Bureau and served on the ASCS Committee and both the Millersburg and Deep River- Millersburg School Boards. Harold died of cancer on Wednesday, September 8, 1999 at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, IA. He lived 81 years and 20 days.
