Owner Is Dead Harold G. Millard, 52, owner and operator of the Millard Transfer Co. at 545 North Weller street, died at the University hospital in Iowa City at 4:30 a.m. today. Mr. Millard had been in the transfer business in Ottumwa since 1925. He was the son of George and Lorenah Ross Millard and was born November 17, 1902, in Wapello county. He had been a resident of this county and Ottumwa all of his life. He was a member of the Pleasant Home Methodist church and of the Eagles lodge, No. 214. His marriage to Ellen Parson took place August 12, 1925, in Ottumwa. She survives. Also surviving are four brothers, Herbert Millard of Sacramento, Calif., Spencer Millard of Des Moines and Oliver and Ira Millard, both of Ottumwa; and four sisters, Mrs. Vesteen Knox of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Nannie Schwartz and Mrs. Exie Patrick, both of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Elizabeth Shields of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by one son in infancy, one brother and a sister. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel pending the completion of funeral arrangements. “MILLARD SERVICES,” From “Ottumwa Daily Courier,” Wednesday, January 26, 1955, Page 29: Funeral services for Harold G. Millard, 52, owner and operator of the Millard Transfer at 545 North Weller street, who died at the University of Iowa hospital in Iowa City Tuesday morning, will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. Harold Henry, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, will be in charge. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. Pallbearers will be Forest Millard, Vern Millard, Howard Millard, Lawrence Schwartz, Everett Shields and David Parson.
