Description	:	Harold G. Cooley, 85, of Milton, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Community Living Center of Veterans' Hospital in Des Moines. Born Oct. 1, 1925, near Milton, he was the son of Percy M. and Daisy Grady Cooley. He married Betty Cook, and they later divorced. Mr. Cooley grew up and lived most of his life in Milton. He was a member of Russell-Strait... Read More	Harold G. Cooley, 85, of Milton, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Community Living Center of Veterans' Hospital in Des Moines. Born Oct. 1, 1925, near Milton, he was the son of Percy M. and Daisy Grady Cooley. He married Betty Cook, and they later divorced. Mr. Cooley grew up and lived most of his life in Milton. He served in the Army as a combat engineer, serving in Europe during World War II. He worked as a mechanic in local garages, and as a heavy equipment mechanic and operator in road construction. He was a member of Russell-Strait Post 483 of the American Legion in Milton, and was a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and AmVets. Survivors include nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, four sisters and one sister in infancy. No visitation is planned. Cremation has been accorded. The graveside service with military rites for Mr. Cooley will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton. Memorials have been established for Van Buren County Commission on Veterans' Affairs or Sunnyside Cemetery.
