Harold Bickford was born Nov. 27, 1921, in Jackson County; the son of Howard and Matilda Bums Bickford. He received his education in the rural schools of Jackson County. He married Edna Mae Dirks June 19, 1954, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Parsonage. The couple made their home in the Anamosa area. Harold worked as a mechanic in the Anamosa area and also operated a garage in Amber. He is survived by his wife, Edna; a son, Harold Bickford Jr.; a sister, Mrs, Robert (Dixie) Danly of Anamosa; five brothers, Charles Bickford, LeRoy Bickford, and Ray Bickford, all of Anamosa, John Bickford of Maquoketa, and Clayton Bickford of Delmar. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a sister and a brother.
