Description	:	Funeral services for Harold Kester Jr., 79, of Clearwater, were held Saturday, April 9, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Clearwater. Father Bill Safranek officiated. Burial was in St. Theresa's Parish Cemetery under the direction of the Snider Memorial Funeral Home of Clearwater. Military rites were conducted by American Legion Post 172 of Neligh. Harold Kester Jr., son of Harold and Betty (Miller) Kester, was born June 27, 1925, at Neligh. He grew up in the Neligh area and graduated from Neligh High School in 1943. Mr. Kester was drafted into the United States Army on October 8, 1943, at Ft. Cook, Nebr. He served in the Pacific Theater campaign, was discharged on March 6, 1946, and returned to Neligh. On June 18, 1949, he married Lucille Thiele at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Clearwater. The couple made their home on a farm north of Clearwater, where Mr. Kester was an active farmer and dairyman. He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church where he was confirmed. He served as the chairman of the St. Theresa's building committee during the construction of the new church in 1989-1990. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 172 of Neligh, and a past member and commander of American Legion Post 267 in Clearwater. Mr. Kester died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at his home. Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Joe Kester; a grandson, Christopher Kester; and a brother, Kenny Kester. Survivors include his wife; 10 children and their spouses, Tim and Carol Kester, Tom and Diana Kester and Bob and Rita Kester, all of Clearwater, Kathy and Dave Zeleski of Denver, Colo.; LuAnn and Steve Kilpatrick of Jackson, Wyo.; Terri and Paul Cammack of Lincoln; Joh and Lee Ann Kester, Bill and Sandy Kester and Dick and Teresa Kester, all of Clearwater; Jennifer and Bill Johnson of Edgar; 45 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
