He was born Oct. 13, 1868, in Lorten, Parish, Norway, of parents, Johan and Anne (Grefthen) Monson. He was baptized in infancy in Norway and confirmed in the Lutheran faith also. He attended school in Norway and in this country. Harold came to this country in March, 1888, and started working for Hans Kjonass of Albert Lea. He later moved to Deer Creek, where he met and married Ella Bergeson on July 11, 1891, the 25th wedding anniversary of her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Bergeson of London Township. Mr. Rohne farmed in the Deer Creek Community for a number of years, later going into the store business with his brother Mathias. He then went back to Norway in 1900, for a visit with relatives. When he returned, he settled in the Deer Creek community on a farm. He moved north of Albert Lea in 1911, where he lived for eight years. From there, he moved east of Lyle to reside in 1920, where he resided at the time of his death. To this union were born seven children, William and Etta, who preceded him in death, John, Herbert, Arthur, and Melvin of Lyle, Haakon of Osage, Iowa. He is also survived by a brother, Martinus of Port Coquitlan, Canada, and a sister in Norway, 10 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. His wife preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 1924. Out-of-town persons attending the funeral were Mrs. Leonard Kramer and son of Milan, Minn., Clarence Birkeland of Maynard, Minn., Mrs. Ed Rodlum of Minneapolis, Quinten Leidal of Austin, Herbert Johnson of Osage, Arnold Weienith of St. Ansgar, Chester Hendrickson, Dr. and Mrs. B.J. Cronwell of Austin, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hanson of St. Ansgar, Mr. and Mrs. Leond Tue, Mr. and Mrs. Rolf Rislov, Anna Nummedahl and Marie of Northwood, Mrs. L.S. Kvam, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Furgerson, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Chester Hendrickson, Clarence Birkeland, George Hendrickson, Martin Rohne, Kermit Leidal and Glen Leidal.
