Description	:	Harold J. Carley died peacefully with his family surrounding him on Monday August 17, 2009 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Harold was 83 years old at the time that God called him to his eternal home. Harold Carley was born on August 8, 1926 to Lloyd and Grace Carley on a farm south of Millboro, South Dakota. Harold attended primary school in Norton, Nebraska while helping his parents on the family farm. Carley died peacefully with his family surrounding him on Monday August 17, 2009 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Harold was 83 years old at the time that God called him to his eternal home. Harold Carley was born on August 8, 1926 to Lloyd and Grace Carley on a farm south of Millboro, South Dakota. Harold attended primary school in Norton, Nebraska while helping his parents on the family farm. At the age of 17, Harold joined the United States Marine Corps and served 4 years with the Marines during WWII both at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and in the South Pacific Theatre. Upon his discharge from the Marine Corps, Harold returned to the Springview, Nebraska area. During a roller skating outing at Springview, Harold met Opal Higgins. After a brief courtship, Harold and Opal were married on July 15, 1950 in Long Pine, Nebraska. Harold and Opal made their home in Springview, Nebraska where Harold worked a few different jobs until he landed employment with the KBR Electric Company where he would work for 10 years. While living in Springview, Nebraska, Harold and Opal were blessed with their three sons Gary, Brad and Craig. In 1967, Harold and Opal moved their family to Gregory, South Dakota where Harold was employed at Rosebud Electric Company for 26 years. Harold was active in community service, volunteering his time at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Gregory Legion Club. He was always ready to help out family and friends. Most of all, Harold was a devoted husband and father who dearly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Harold is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Grace Carley, infant son Gary, his brother Marvin Carley, sister Violet Ferneau and grandson Spencer Carley.
