Read More	Published in the Red Deer Advocate, Red Deer,AB on October 1, 2006 FOX, 1914 ~ 2006 Mr. Harold Joseph Fox, beloved husband of Mrs. Ada Fox of the Hillsdown District of Alberta, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at Bethany CollegeSide, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at the age of 91 years. Harold was born on October 6, 1914 at Consort, Alberta. He moved to the Joffre Area in 1933, where he worked for many area farmers. In 1942, Harold was called to serve overseas in the Royal Canadian Army. He returned from the war in 1946 and on June 21, 1947, Harold married his bride, Ada. The couple moved to the Hillsdown District, where they farmed for many years. Harold semi-retired about twenty-six years ago but focused on other passions such as woodworking, upholstering and refinishing furniture. Harold was well known as Mr. Fix-It and he also shared his talents with others through his teaching. Harold was a very active man who loved caring for his yard and garden, he loved curling, square dancing, camping and played in a "Kitchen Band". He was also very involved in his church, community activities and enjoyed carpet bowling. Harold won the Provincial 'Erland Lee Award' for his help with the Alberta Women's Institute and was Warden of the St. Paul's Hillsdown Anglican Church for fifty years. Harold will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of his family and dear friends. Harold leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Ada, his son, Keith (Joyce) Fox, all of the Hillsdown District, daughter, Pat (Bill) Odowichuk of Delburne, Alberta, eight grandchildren, Jody (Shaun) Barrett, Suzanne (Brad) Koopmans, Brent (Caitlin) Fox, Taylor Fox, Parker Fox, Dustin (Phoenix) Odowichuk, Derek Odowichuk, Brandy Odowichuk and his great grandchildren, Spenser, Daniel and Nickolas Barrett, Jordon and Sarah Koopmans and Savanna, Lyndy and Sophie Douse. Harold will also be sadly missed by his sisters, Emma Schoff of Red Deer, Evelyn Nelson of Athabasca, Alberta and Amy Gauld, also of Red Deer, brother, Walter (Eileen) Fox of Red Deer, sister-in-law, Edith Paull of Delburne, Alberta, sisters-in-law, Hattie Moschenross, Ruth Lund and Vonna Whittemore, brother-in-law, Bill (Betty) Whittemore, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Harold was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Florence and his family, Herb and Marion Fox, Tom and Irene Fox, Albert Fox, Vera and Joe Gaulker, Donald Nelson, Vernon Gauld, Gordon Fox and Frankie Fox. A Public Celebration of Harold's Life will be held at St. Leonard's On-The-Hill Anglican Church, 4241 - 44th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, October 2, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. A Private Family Interment will be held at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
