Funeral Services are 1:30 P.M. Friday, December 20, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney. A Committal Service will follow at Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery, rural Corsica. Isakson was born on May 13, 1929 to John and Helle (Vevik) Isakson in Corsica, SD. He attended Douglas County Grade School and graduated from Stickney High School in 1949. He was united in marriage to Betty Thompson on August 30, 1949. They made their home at the Bass Beach Resort - a roller skating, hunting and fishing haven in rural Armour, SD. Harold began employment at the Fort Randall Dam by Pickstown, SD. After an accident at the dam, they returned to Corsica and began farming. They purchased a farm near Stickney, SD in 1966 where they resided until 2010. They then moved to Aberdeen, SD to be near their grandchildren. Harold and Betty were members of Ebenezer Lutheran Church of rural Corsica and after its closing in 1979, they transferred to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney. They were currently attending the First Baptist Church in Aberdeen. During their 64 years of marriage, he and his wife Betty worked side-by-side on the family farm. His passions in life were his Faith, his Family, his Friends, and his Farm. Harold was optimistic, and he was considered one of the nicest people you would ever meet. He led a vibrant and healthy life for 84 years. Grateful for having shared in Harold's life: his wife, Betty Isakson of Aberdeen, SD; his four children: Harold "Ike" (Deb) Isakson of Grand Junction, CO, Sharon (Dwight) DeBoer of Stickney, SD, Randy (Lynn) Isakson of Liberal, KS and Myron (Jill) Isakson of Aberdeen, SD; his 11 grandchildren: Chad, Aaron, Amber, Jennifer, Jodi, Matt, Lynnsi, Lacie, Jessica, Jackson, and Alexis; 8 great-grandchildren; his two brothers: Joe Isakson of Sioux Falls, SD and Alvin Isakson of Oklahoma City, OK; along with many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by: his parents; an infant son; 13 brothers and sisters; and 2 grandsons: Rick and Randy DeBoer.
