He was the son of Christen and Sophia Nielsen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Wolbach. Harold spent most of his life in the vicinity near Wolbach. He attended Wolbach High School, Kearney State Teachers College and was a graduate of the Business College at Lincoln. In 1933 he was united in marriage to Odetta Bower. To this union one daughter, Karen was born. Harold was a businessman in Wolbach for many years. In 1957 he moved to Sargent, continuing in business as an International Harvester dealer. In 1964, a severe heart attack forced him to retire from business. In 1967 he sold the business and moved to Oakland, California, where he and his wife resided until he was taken by death. Harold was a civic minded person, serving many years as a church council member, a school board member, and was president of the Sargent Chamber of Commerce for two years. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Odetta, one daughter, Mrs. Hamilton Manzel and her husband, and one granddaughter, April Manzel of Visalia, California, two sisters, Mrs. George Herman of San Carlos, California, Mrs. John Young of Redwood City, California, two nephews, Walt Douthit of Wilmington, Delaware, Louis Thayer of Epsilon, Michigan and one niece, Mrs. Gary Elliott of Omaha. Harold was a loving and devoted husband and father. Interment was in the Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, California.
