He died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Faith Regional Health Services. ——— Harold was born on Sept. 11, 1926, at Osmond, the son of Edward and Ida (Krueger) Dittman. He moved with his family to Pierce where he graduated from Pierce High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from 1947 to 1952, and then returned home and worked with Bridge Construction and then in 1962 began working with Cox Development until retiring in 1995. He married Leona Jones on Dec. 2, 1964, at Madison. Harold was an avid bingo player, enjoyed watching football as well as watching war and western movies Harold is survived by his wife, Leona Dittman of Norfolk; his children and their spouses, Ron Dittman of Norfolk, Donna and Terry Ronk, Jolene and John Gall, Lana Cass, Lon and Amanda Dittman, Tara and Scott Wragge, Cory and Michelle Dittman, Neal Dittman and Tanya and Abe Reppert, all of Norfolk; one brother, Ray Dittman of Caseyville, Ill.; two sisters, Evelyn Hilgert of Columbus and Ruth Burton of Roanoke, Va.; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Troy, three sisters and two granddaughters.
