"Mal" Frye , 79, longtime resident of Milford, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Harborside Healthcare Center-Crestwood, Milford. Mr. Frye was a son of the late Rev. Harold M. Frye Sr. and Helen (Follansbee) Frye . He was one of the first residents of the Mill Apartments in Milford, where he lived until July 2004, when he entered the nursing home. He had resided in the Milford and Wilton area for more than 60 years and had formerly lived in Westmoreland. Mr. Frye moved to Wilton with his family in 1942, where his father served as the minister at The Second Congregational Church in Wilton. He attended schools in Westmoreland, Walpole and Wilton He had been employed for Abbott Machine Co., Wilton, for eight years and had also worked for a short time at Nashua Brass before opening and operating Milford Taxi for 20 years. After retiring, he volunteered for the Nashua Humane Society for many years. And then there are people like "Mal" Frye , who drove so much after he created Milford Taxi that his family hardly saw him.... It wasn't necessarily the driving that attracted Frye , however. It was the people. "He was just totally involved in it, morning, noon and night for any number of years. He loved it," Bills said. "He liked hearing all the people's stories, helping people out. Even after he retired, he still took a few old people around for nothing." Harold Frye was usually known by his middle name to differentiate him from his father.
