Description	:	Harold Peck was the son of Floyd & Hattie Peck. He loved playing ball and they scarcely ever missed a ball game. He farmed for a time with his father. They were both very active in church work. Harold took turn as Sunday school superintendent and elder. He married Velda Lemon. To this marriage they were blessed with a daughter Haroline. At the time of his death in 1957, Harold was worshipful master of Freedom Lodge #434 AF &AM. He was a custodian at the school and was loved by children and staff. Survivors include beloved... PECK LAST THURSDAY Well Known Akron Man Dies From Heart Attack on Monday, Feb. 18 After the sun had set on another day, with the darkness and silence of a closing round of time, a hush of sorrow, of death, came upon this community within a few brief moments, when Harold Glenn Peck was ushered into the presence of the Great Father of Light. A devoted elder in the First Church of Christ, he followed his Lord in Christian baptism on March 25, 1951, and served Him many ways, acting as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was, at the time of his departure on February 18, 1957, Master of Freedom Lodge, No. 434, A.F. and A. M., a position which he loved and thoroughly enjoyed, and it was upon the completion of his last communication that he was ushered into the Grand Lodge on High. He will be sorely missed by the faculty members and all the youngsters in the local school where he has been custodian for the past six years. Members of the faculty found him a capable and congenial helper and a good friend. He was "Special" to the youngsters who came to him with zippers that were stuck, shoes to be tied, buttons to be buttoned and help with Math. He loved people and his friends were numbered by his acquaintances. He will surely be missed. He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Velda Lake; his daughter Haroldine, and her husband, Arvid Hilliker; his granddaughter, Sheryl Ann; his mother, Mrs. Hattie Peck, of Hawarden; two sister, Mrs. Hazel King of Merrill, and Mrs. Sareva Stinton, of Akron, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Cora Lewis, of California. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Peck, in 1951. Funeral services were held in the First Church of Christ on Thursday, February 21, at 2:30 p.m. with the minister, Rev. G. W. Swan, officiating. A quartet comprised of Ellis Tucker, Thomas Kenny, Gail Hemmingsen and Harold Baker, sang "Precious Memory" and "Mansion Over the Hill Top," with accompaniment by Mrs. V. G. Adams. Active pallbearers were Kenneth Hultgren, Walter Young, John Ludwigs, Charles Hendricks, Cloyde Gabel and Louis Sprenger. Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Hebe Cummins, Lyle McInnis, Bruce McInnis, Anders Jannsen, Albert Elliott and Lloyd Searls. Ushers were Henry F. Frerichs and Marion Morehead. Members of Freedom Lodge, No. 434, A.F. & A.M., participated in the Masonic graveside ritual service, Past Master G. W. Swan delivering the Masonic eulogy at the interment in Riverside Cemetery.
