Read More	Harold Peter “Pete” DeHoff, Jr. was born March 16, 1932 and departed this life on Friday July 22, 2016, at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in Wichita. Pete was born in Council Grove, Kansas to Harold Peter and Mary Louise McCardel DeHoff. He graduated from Council Grove High School in 1950 and joined the United States Army in November 1954. He was a Korean War Time Veteran and proud to serve his county. His entire life he has been an avid sports enthusiast. He was passionate about being an outdoors man, where he loved to fish and hunt, play golf, competitive trap shooting, especially with his daughters, and in later year’s wood carving. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Time spent with family was so precious to him. For 54 years his career path has been in the telecommunications industry. In April of 1970, Pete brought his family back to Council Grove, KS, where he bought a small farm SE of town. He loved working the land at night after spending a full day at Monarch Molding, as their new Vice President. In December 1983, Pete married Ellen J. Adams. Together they blended their families and established their home in Council Grove. In 1988, Pete & Ellen bought Monarch Molding, Inc., where Pete continued in full time employment, until he retired in 2008. He has been a lifelong member of: National Rifle Association and a recipient of the National Patriot’s Medal; Shriners and was certified as a contributor to the 100 Million Dollar Club in support of the work of the world’s greatest philanthropy. Pete served 50 years as a Member of the Brotherhood of the M. W. Grand Lodge A.F. and A.M. of Kansas; he had the honor of serving as Grand Master of Masons with the Council Grove Lodge No. 36. He served for many years on the local Ducks Unlimited chapter in Council Grove, and the Greater Morris County Development Corporation. Pete also served as the President of the Council Grove Chamber of Commerce. In his retirement years, he joined as a lifelong member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association of America. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Louise DeHoff, and his son, Roy Daniel DeHoff in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Ellen J. DeHoff, of the home; daughters: Stephanie Jane DeHoff and fiancée’ Mark Sanders, KS, Lisa DeHoff-Thompson and husband Larry, KS, Cathy McCaleb and fiancée’ Darrell Francis, KS, Stephanie Diehl and husband Mark, KS, Christy Jimerson and husband Deryl, KS; and son, Kenny Adams and wife Linda, FL; sisters, Betty Peebles and husband Don, CA, Nora Bumstead and husband Keith, ID, and Mary Jane Durst, FL. Also surviving are his 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews. A Celebration of Life Memorial services will be held Thursday July 28th at 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church. Private family inurnment will be in Sunny Slope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
