Description	:	Harold R. Botts, 52, of 109 N. 18th St., died unexpectedly Tuesday morning while driving to work. Born March 27, 1922, at Ione, Minn., he was the son of James L. and Lucille Gately Botts. When he was young the family moved to Marshalltown where he received his education in the public schools. During World War II, he served in the Army as a T-5 in the medical department with the 297 General Hospital. Botts, 52, of 109 N. 18th St., died unexpectedly Tuesday morning while driving to work. Born March 27, 1922, at Ione, Minn., he was the son of James L. and Lucille Gately Botts. When he was young the family moved to Marshalltown where he received his education in the public schools. During World War II, he served in the Army as a T-5 in the medical department with the 297 General Hospital. On March 13, 1948, he was married to Helen McGuire and they have always made their home in this city. Mr. Botts was employed by the Iowa Electric Light and Power Co. for the last 26 years. Preceding him in death were his parents and a son, Richard, in 1969. Mr. Botts was a member of Central Christian Church, the American Legion, Marshall Lodge No. 108, AF & AM, Signet Chapter No. 38, RAM, King Solomon Council No. 20 R & SM, and St. Aldemar Commandery No. 30, KT, Central Chapter 67 OES and Madon Shrine 38 WSJ. Surviving are the widow and two grandchildren Larry and Lisa Botts of Colfax. Also surviving are two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Leo (Opel) Chinburg and James Botts, both of Sheffield: Mrs. William (Gladys) Martens and Cecil Botts, both of Marshalltown. Services will be from the chapel of Estel-Perrin Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Richard Walters, pastor of Central Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Flag Folding Ceremonies by the American Legion. Masonic Committal services will be at the Funeral Home. Marshalltown, IA newspaper Times-Republican dated April 2, 1974 Services for Harold R. Botts, 109 N. 18th St., who died unexpectedly Tuesday morning while driving to work, were from the chapel of Estel-Perrin Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Richard Walters, pastor of Central Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Flag Folding ceremonies by the American Legion. Committal services at the funeral home were by Marshall Lodge No. 108 AF&AM. Attending the services were officials and employees of the Iowa Electric Light and Power Co., Spurgeon's Store, Marshall Lodge No. 108 AF&AM, Madon Shrine No. 38, Central Chapter No. 67 OES, and the American Legion post of Albion. Bearers were John Cable, Roger Bauder, Gilbert Krough, Dennis Wilson, George Greiner and Archie Cope.
