Description	:	"Harold Roland Lesser, of Wilson Creek, passed away on Friday June 26, 2009, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. He was 88 years old. Harold was born Sept 9, 1920, on a farm south of Irby, to Henry and Amelia (Walter) Lesser Jr. He attended a country school through the eighth grade traveling there by buggy and horseback. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1938 and worked on the farm until he was drafted into the US Army in WW II. He served in England, went to France on D-7. and was then in Belgium during The Battle... Read More	"Harold Roland Lesser, of Wilson Creek, passed away on Friday June 26, 2009, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. He was 88 years old. Harold was born Sept 9, 1920, on a farm south of Irby, to Henry and Amelia (Walter) Lesser Jr. He attended a country school through the eighth grade traveling there by buggy and horseback. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1938 and worked on the farm until he was drafted into the US Army in WW II. He served in England, went to France on D-7. and was then in Belgium during The Battle of the Bulge. While stationed in Illinois, he met Marie Olson of Monmouth, IL, at a dance. They were married on April 10, 1946 in Odessa and soon made their home on the family farm. Dancing continued to be a theme throughout his life, from square dancing to the senior center dance later in life. In 1954 they moved to Marlin, raising wheat, cattle and horses until retirement. In 1987 they moved to Wilson Creek where he loved spending time with and teasing their grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marie (Olson) Lesser, daughter Carol Ann Lesser; and one sister, Dorothy. He is survived by sons Timothy Lesser of Spokane; Ronald (Linda) Lesser of Marlin and Tracy (Katherine) Lesser of Marlin; daughter Gayle (Bryce) Hicks of Gervais, OR; brother Loren (Phyllis) Lesser of Spokane; sisters, Eldora Ball of Everett; Laverna Dormaier of Spokane; and Janice Eckhart of Moses Lake; grandchildren Holly (Lesser) Finkbeiner, Wade Lesser, Eric Kyle and Stacia Lesser and Dallas and Jacquelyn Hicks; and one great granddaughter, Madison Finkbeiner, and a very dear friend Laverne Peterson of Dryden, WA. Following a family graveside service at the Odessa Cemetery, a memorial service was held at the Grace Baptist Church in Wilson Creek on Thursday, July 2, 2009."
