The funeral services were held at Bowen church Friday at one o'clock and the body was interred at the Monte Vista cemetery by the side of his baby brother. Read More	Obituary provided by Jon McConnel (#47611507) ***** "Harold Ray McConnel was born August 29, 1912, at Monte Vista, Colo., and died at his home October 31, 1917, at the age of five years, two months and two days. The funeral services were held at Bowen church Friday at one o'clock and the body was interred at the Monte Vista cemetery by the side of his baby brother. His illness, which was pronounced tubercular meningitis, was brief, being only three weeks. At first it was thought his trouble was from his stomach, but as he became worse, symptoms developed which proved that the trouble was in his brain. He was unconscious at times, but most of the time he had his right mind, until on Wednesday, Oct. 24 he lost consciousness never to regain it. What pain and suffering the little body went thru with in the awful days and nights that followed, no one knows. We only know that from the moans and wails, that it was more than the weak little body could withstand. From Friday until his death he was in the care of a trained nurse but even the best of care could not bring the little soul back to health and happiness. Little Harold was much loved and favored by all around him, and one could see in his sunny little face the very sunshine from heaven. He was so bright and thoughtful; always considering things that many children never think of. In his play he always shared his toys with his playmates in the most unselfish way. He was a kind and loving brother to his little sister, always looking out for her welfare. Although his presence will be greatly missed by all, yet we know that the little soul is at rest with Jesus, and is happy with his little angel brother, who had gone before. He leaves a father and mother and baby sister to mourn his loss, yet it is only another tie that binds them closer to heaven, where, someday, they will join him and his little brother, with the angels."
