He was born April 24, 1939 in Ottumwa to Harold B. and Martha Giltner Nelson. Scott had served with the Iowa Army National Guard. He had worked at Haw Hardware and Lowenberg Bakery. He was an avid Hawkeye and Chicago Bears fan. He had suffered with rheumatoid arthritis for 20 years. Surviving is a son, Bill Nelson of Venice, CA; a sister, Shirley(Chuck)Townsley of Ottaumwa; two brothers, Stephen B.(Dianne)Nelson of Roswell, GA and Seth Wayne Nelson of Brownsburg, IN. He was preceded in death by two daughters, infant Kimberly Nelson and shelby Nelson and his parents. Funeral services will be 1 pm Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Amundson officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation begins at 1 pm Wednesday with the family present from 5-7 pm Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the ARthritis/Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
