Description	:	Harold "Red" Livix, 95, Bakersfield, Calif., and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2007 at the Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. A graveside funeral service for Red Livix will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Forest Home Cemetery Chapel. The Rev. Jason Gutzmer will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Home with full military honors conducted at the graveside by the Henry County Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon at the Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mt. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon at the Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Red Livix was born Sept. 17, 1911 in rural Salem, the son of Zelma "Z.M." and Nina (Scott) Livix. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1930 and from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1934. Red was called to serve his country during World War II. He entered the former Army Air Corps on March 4, 1942 at Ft. Des Moines and was trained as an aircraft mechanic. He saw action in Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Naples, Rome, Rhineland and Central Europe and was awarded seven bronze stars for his actions. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 1, 1945. He married Leora Brodsky Aug. 5, 1945 in Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of the American Legion Robert Tribby Post 58 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2561, both of Mt. Pleasant and maintained his membership in the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and was honored as a 50-year member.
