Description	:	Harold T. "Uncle Bud" Brodersen, 84, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at a local hospital. Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2010 at Calvary Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Travis officiating. Visitation was from 2 to 5 p.m. with a prayer service at 4 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Harold was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Correctionville, Iowa. He was the son of Chris and Pauline (Jansen) Brodersen. From Correctionville, he moved to Battle Creek and in 1937 to rural Sioux City with his family. Harold was baptized and confirmed at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Leeds. He farmed with his parents until their death and continued farming on his own until 2008. He grew popcorn for Jolly Time Pop Corn Company from 1962 to 2000. Harold married Mary Lou Mingo on Oct. 17, 1987, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Harold was a charter member of Calvary Lutheran Church and served on various church offices. He was the Hall of Fame Pop Corn Grower in 2000. He loved dancing, playing cards, bowling and being around people. Harold collected old farm tractors and machinery and loved to collect toy tractors and toy cars. He was an avid John Deere person, and collected anything that said John Deere. He and Mary Lou held thrashing bees for eight years. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Lou; a sister, Leona DeHarty of South Sioux City; a stepson, Tim and wife, Barb; three stepgrandsons, Timmy, Dillon and Chris; one stepgranddaughter, Shasta all of Elk Point, S.D.; six nieces, Bev Byroad, Rosie Nipp, Norma and Bruce Lash, Noreen and Gregg Bohl, Jan and Norm Wrase, Regena and Gerald Klein; three nephews, Clair and Linda Thoreson, Emmett and Lena DeHarty and Curtis DeHarty; many great nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Hazel Perrin, Helen Philips and Amy Klein; and brother-in-laws, Ronald and Fran Cooper, Chuck and Jean Cooper and Kenneth and Betty Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilbur Brodersen and Osca; sister-in-law, Mildred Brodersen; a sister, Eldora Thoreson; and a brother-in-law, Gene Thoreson. Many family and friends will cherish Harold's memory.
