Description	:	Harold W. Lohf, 89, of Luzerne, IA passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Hospice Center in Cedar Rapids, IA of Parkinson’s Disease. Graveside service with military honors will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine, IA with Don Drahos officiating. Harold was born February 12, 1927 to William and Pearl (Berkheimer) Lohf in Luzerne. Following graduation from Belle Plaine High School, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Upon his return from the War, he continued to farm with his father and brother, later, on his own farm northwest of Luzerne. On April 19, 1949, he married Doris Yuska of Clutier, IA, and raised his family. Harold farmed for over 70 years raising cattle and growing oats, corn, and soy beans. He began what he called his peddling days when began selling baling twine all over central and southern Iowa and northern Missouri. He made many friends in the 43 years he spent “peddling”, including a trip to Brazil, South America to see the huge sisal farms and the actual production of the twine product. In October of 2013, Harold became one of the many service men and women to visit the memorials in Washington D.C. on an Honor Flight, an experience he truly enjoyed. Harold is survived by his wife, Doris, of 67 years; children, Sally (Ron Clay) Kruckenberg of Keystone, IA, Dale (Melody) Lohf and David (Kathy) Lohf both of Luzerne; grandchildren, Kyle and Eric (Joan) Kruckenberg, Landon Lohf, Kelsey (Blaine) Hawkins, Paige, Andrea and Abby Lohf; great-grandchildren, Brahn, Chase, and Eloise Hawkins and Evie and Joey Kruckenberg. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Elmer Lohf. Harold’s family would like to thank all of the staff at St. Luke’s Hospice Center in Cedar Rapids and especially to Dr. Karl Homes and his staff at the Belle Plaine Clinic.
