Description	:	Harold Wayne Gilman, of Ruby, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. Wayne, the third son of Harold Leslie Gilman and Alice Eleanor (Peggy) Costle Gilman, was born in Sheridan on July 16, 1947. Wayne, the third son of Harold Leslie Gilman and Alice Eleanor (Peggy) Costle Gilman, was born in Sheridan on July 16, 1947. He attended grade school at Laurin, Alder and Sheridan, where he graduated from high school in 1965. He attended Western Montana College and Montana State University, graduating with a bachelor of science in agriculture education in 1972, followed by a master of science in agriculture education from Montana State University. Wayne married Gail Ruth Younge of Rochester, N.Y., in 1970. To this union, five children were born. Wayne and Gail later divorced. He was briefly married to Linda Hudson of Sacramento, Calif. In 1998, Wayne met Kathy McDowell, with whom he shared the remainder of his life. Wayne served as a Montana State FFA 4th Vice President 1965-66. Wayne spent his youth working with his Dad and brothers on the Robb Creek Louie Hansen Ranch picking bales. During college he enjoyed his summers tending bar at the Bale of Hay Saloon and his winters tending bar at the Bozeman Bowl. Following graduation from college, he worked as a construction foreman for Felton Construction of Missoula at various jobs in Montana and Alaska. Wayne's career in education began as a vocational agriculture instructor in Absarokee High School in 1977. He continued on at Beaverhead County High School (BCHS) in Dillon, where he taught and served as the FFA chapter adviser 1979-2002, and where he influenced the lives of countless students. Upon retiring from BCHS Wayne took his love for agriculture to the state of Washington. He served as an instructor of ag ed at Arlington High School for two years. This position led him to his role as agriculture science program supervisor with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction where he worked until his passing. Wayne was passionate about his connection to his community and demonstrated that by his involvement in 4-H, FFA, Elks, Volunteer Fire Department, Taylor Cemetery District, Madison County Local Government Review Committee the County Planning Board, and several other organizations. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Brother: Robert Taylor Gilman nephew, Gregory Allen Gilman He is survived by son, Duke Wayne; daughters, Rebecca (Monte) Ypma, Rachel (Reece) Silve, Katie Joy and Jessica (Lance) Swanson; four grandsons; brother, Vern (Pamela) Gilman; sister, Betty (Bob) Nolte; sister-in-law, Pauline H. Gilman; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church in Sheridan. Interment will follow at the Taylor Cemetery near Alder. If you are unable to attend the service, please join us at the Elks Lodge in Virginia City at approximately 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Montana or Washington FFA Foundations, the Alder Fire Department, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
