Born in New Ross, he was a son of the late Harry and Eva (Rafuse) Broome. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in England and Italy as a member of the 88th. Read More	Harold Whitney Broome 1997 Halifax Herald Harold Whitney Broome, 82, Shoreham Village, Chester, formerly of New Ross, died May 3, 1997, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in New Ross, he was a son of the late Harry and Eva (Rafuse) Broome. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in England and Italy as a member of the 88th. Upon returning to Canada, he took up carpentry and finished his working career as a janitor at New Ross Consolidated School. He was a member of Christ Anglican Church, New Ross, past president and life member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 79; past master of Norwood Lodge 135; ancient free and accepted mason and past district grand chaplain of Lunenburg and Queens districts. Surviving are his wife, the former Kathleen Leopold, Shoreham Village; daughter, Marlene (Mrs. Arnold Leopold), New Ross; son, George, Dartmouth; brothers, Ira, Arnold, Gerald, New Ross; sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Legge, Lake Paul; Mrs. Lois Fletcher, Windsor; Elta (Mrs. Rettie Crossman), Burton, New Brunswick; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m.,Masonic service 7:30 p.m., both today in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, New Ross. Fuenral 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Christ Anglican Church, New Ross, Rev. Gordon Neish officiating. Legion service to follow at the graveside. Burial in the Anglican Cemetery, New Ross.
