Harold William Bruckner was born July 28, 2010 at Shelby, NE to William and Anna (Janicek) Bruckner. He was baptized at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church near Osceola, NE and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Omaha, NE. Harold attended rural school near Shelby, NE. After meeting Ellen Hoefener in Omaha, the couple later married on December 19, 1943 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beemer, NE. The couple farmed north of Shelby, NE for a year. A son, Gene Harold, was born and died a few days later. Harold served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Seebee. After being honorably discharged, the couple settled in Beemer, NE. The couple was blessed with four daughters, Marianne, Verene, Cynthia, and GayLynn. Harold had worked for Schlickbernd's at the Hardware store and later purchased Beemer Hardware from them in 1958. They operated their hardware, appliance, plumbing, heating and air-conditioning business for many years and also operated H&E Hardware in Scribner, NE. Harold was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Beemer, Beemer American Legion Post #159, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3602. Harold and Ellen enjoyed square dancing and traveling. Survivors include- Daughters- Marianne and husband Woody Slama of Scribner, NE Verene and husband Michael Sandoz of Anacortes, WA Cindy Pool of Omaha, NE GayLynn Bennett of Elkhorn, NE 7 Grandchildren 17 Great Grandchildren 2 Great-Great Grandchildren Sisters-Irene Oakeson of Columbus, NE Lorene Mick of Columbus, NE Sister-in-law- Laurel Bruckner of Columbus, NE Harold was preceded in death by his parents, wife- Ellen on September16, 2008, son-Gene Harold, and brother-Lee
