Dependent upon the arrival of her son, John, expected here from California early tomorrow morning, funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the home after which the body will be taken to Colo (Cem) for burial at the side of her husband, who died Feb 14, 1928. The daughter, Mrs Martha Cravens arrived Sunday night from her home in Cottonwood, MN, while the son, John is on his way from his home in Fontana, CA. The body will lie in state at the home where it may be viewed by friends. While Mrs Danskin had been a sufferer of chronic troubles for a number of years, her last illness lasted but a few days and death was largely dued to the infirmity of old age. Despite the fact that she rarely left her home, she retained an active interest in her home and friends up to a few days before her death. Gifted, with a splendid mind, she was a great reader and was well informed upon matters of world interest. She was a woman of high standards, as an ex-emplification of the strength of character of the pioneer woman whose life's devotion was her family, her home, her church and her community. Mrs Danskin was born Harriet Eliza Douglas at Chateaugay, New York, March 2, 1847. Her parents were Silas Anson and Almira Douglas. As a young girl, she taught school and also worked in a factory. She was married in New York on June 24, 1874 to James Danskin, who was also a native of Chateaugay. She came to Iowa as a bride and settled upon the home farm, 2 1/2 miles north of Colo. (IA) Here, the five children who survive her were born. While living on the farm northwest of Colo, Mr and Mrs Danskin were members of the St Paul's Lutheran church of Johnson Grove, but after moving to Nevada, they united with the Methodist Episcopal church and during the years their health permitted, both were faithful attendants at its service. Mrs Danskin is survived by three daughters, and two sons, Martha Cravens of Cottonwood, MN; Ernest J. Danskin, who lives upon the old homestead; Effie and Sibyl Danskin, at home and John S. Danskin of Fontana, CA. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The daughter, Mrs Cravens, had returned home but a few weeks ago from a visit at her mother's home. Interment in the Colo Cem.Colo, Story Co. IA.
