Description	:	Harriet Lorius was born in Alsace Loraine, on boundary line between France and Germany, January 25, 1845, and died December 25, 1928, at her home near Oak, Nebr., with the godly heritage in time of 83 years and 11 months. When ten years of age she was confirmed in the church of her choice and at sixteen years of age she came to America with her parents who settled near Peoria, Ills. December 19, 1868, she was united in marriage to Peter Hoffman in Peoria county (sic), Ills. They came to Nebraska in pioneer days and settled on the Blue river... Read More	Harriet Lorius was born in Alsace Loraine, on boundary line between France and Germany, January 25, 1845, and died December 25, 1928, at her home near Oak, Nebr., with the godly heritage in time of 83 years and 11 months. When ten years of age she was confirmed in the church of her choice and at sixteen years of age she came to America with her parents who settled near Peoria, Ills. Mrs. Hoffman was the mother of eight children, four sons and four daughters. One son, John Otto, and one daughter, Mrs. Anna Mosier, have preceded her in death. Her husband departed this life February 1, 1916, and she leaves to cherish the memory of her devoted and affectionate motherhood Fred Hoffman of Atkinson, Nebr., Mrs. Kate Buck, Carney, Okla., Mrs. Julia Hughes, Strang, Nebr.; Mrs. Mary Wagner, Ralph and Jesse Hoffman of Oak; 29 grand chidren, 17 great grand children and one great great grand child; besides many friends. Mrs. Hoffman was a great lover of home life and spent most of her time at home in the enjoyment of her children. Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon, and the interment was at the Mount Zion cemetery, Rev. A.C. Bates of Davenport officiating.
