Burial will be in Mountview cemetery. Mrs. Cook had been visiting her son, Donald J. Cook, and a nephew, A.E. Carpenter, at Newton for the last month and was stricken ill about a week before she died. Born on January 11, 1884 in North Carolina, she came to Billings several years ago from Klein. She was a member of the Jewel chapter, Order of Eastern Star of Roundup. Surviving besides her husband and son are three daughters, Mrs. Irene Nore of Billings, Mrs. Lucille Rom of Roundup, and Mrs. Margaret Hurley of Port Orchard, Wash.; sic sisters, Mrs. A.W. Carpenter of Emporia, Kan., Mrs. W.O. Proffit of Seattle, Mrs. Clyde Jones of Johnson City, Tenn., Mrs. S.L. Vance of Erwin, Tenn., Mrs. Harry Bellis and Mrs. William Lauderback, both of Castle Rock, Wash., and two brothers, W.T. Matney of Tenino, Wash., and R.C. COOK--At Newton, Kan., Mrs. Harriet Inez Cook, wife of Dillard J. Cook. Body will arrive in Billings Thursday evening. Service probably Saturday. The Billings Gazette Sun., Sept. 6, 1936 p2 col 4 Service Is Held For Local Matron ------------ Funeral services for Mrs. Harriet Inez Cook, 52, wife of D. J. Cook of Billings, who died while visiting a son at Newton, Kan., last Monday, were held Saturday afternoon from Smith's funeral chapel. The Rev. George S. Sloan, pastor of the local First Congregational church, officiated. Jewel chapter No. 48, O.E.S. of Roundup presented their ritual at the chapel service. Interment was in Mountview cemetery. Howard C. Smith, accompanied by Mrs. Smith sang "O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go" and "No Disappointments in Heaven." Pallbearers were A.G. McNaught, Andrew Stamp, A.J. Conger, T.H. Smith, C.L. Belden and Charles Cooper. Survivors include four children, her parents, two brothers and six sisters.
