Born Aug. 9, 1916, in March Township, she was the daughter of Walter Lewis and Elizabeth Metts Bice. On June 10, 1936, she married Harold Smith. On Aug. 10, 1946, she married William E. Stigge, 80, of Burlington, died at 107 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 1997, at Elm View Care Center of Burlington. Born Aug. 9, 1916, in March Township, she was the daughter of Walter Lewis and Elizabeth Metts Bice. On June 10, 1936, she married Harold Smith. On Aug. 10, 1946, she married William E. Stigge in Lancaster, Mo. He died Sept. 19, 1990. Mrs. Stigge was a secretary in the reproduction office at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 33 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Audobon Society and an avid University of Iowa Hawkeye fan. Survivors include her daughter, Evelyn Ross of Burlington; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Mrs. Stigge has been cremated. A memorial service for Mrs. Stigge will be 130 p.m. Thursday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Milton Geisler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Augusta Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
