Mae is preceded in death by her husband Samuel, and son Charles Richard Schomberg. Harriet Mae Witter was born April 13, 1920 in Rudd, the daughter of Charles and Julia Simonson Witter. The former Mae Witter Schomberg married Samuel Newton Allen on January 16, 1954 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 2012. Mae had been a Proofreader for the Russell Guides Company and worked at Collins Radio until her retirement in 1954. She was a charter member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, the Rebecca Lodge and the United Methodist Women. Mae enjoyed quilting through the Witwer Senior Center. Mae and Sam shared a love of dancing and first met at a square dance. She also had a deep passion for missions. Memorials can be directed to St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, the Willis Dady Emergency Shelter at 1247-4th Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 52403 or the Sam & Mae Allen Endowed Scholarship fund at Central College in Pella.
