Description	:	Harriet Dahlstet, 96, of Omaha, formerly of Holdrege, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Rose Blumkin Home in Omaha. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the Rev. Heather Shoup officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. She was born Dec. 13, 1910, in Williamsburg Township in northern Phelps County to O.B. and Cassie (Kedey) Marshall. In 1935, she married Bernerd Dahlstet in North Platte. He died May 21, 1947. Survivors include her sons, John of Fruit Heights, Utah, and Forrest of Omaha; brother, Harold Marshall of Holdrege; sisters, Roberta Lundstrom of San Jose, Calif., and Roxana Lind of Kearney; and five great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include her daughters-in-law, Connie Dahlstet of Fruit Heights and Ellen Dahlstet of Omaha; granddaughters, Katherine of Fruit Heights, Kristina of East Wakefield, N.H., and Elizabeth of Woodbridge, Va.; sister-in-law, Bonnie Marshall of Holdrege; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She received her primary education in rural schools and then graduated from Holdrege High School in 1929. She pursued higher education to receive her normal training at Kearney State Teachers College and then taught for several years in rural schools in Phelps County. The Dahlstets farmed northeast of Bertrand for a few years before moving to North Platte in 1940. Her husband began working for Union Pacific Railroad. On May 21, 1947, he was killed in a railroad accident. She and her sons lived in North Platte until June 1953 when they returned to Holdrege. She remained in Holdrege and worked for the Office Supply Store until the late 1960s when she moved to Denver. She returned to Holdrege in 1969 to care for her mother during her last days and returned to Denver in June 1970. She remained in Denver with her sisters, Inez and Roberta, until December 1997. She returned to Holdrege in January 1998 to spend some months with her brother, Harold Marshall, and then moved to Omaha in November 1998, where she lived at Immanuel Lakeside Village to be near her son, Forrest. She was living at Lakeside Village at the time of her death. Her devotion to her family and their welfare was the sterling quality of her life. She gave selflessly in caring for family members, beginning with the challenge of raising two sons alone. She was the sole caregiver for her mother-in-law, Addie Hanson, and gave of herself in the care of her parents in their old age. She suffered deeply in the loss of her sister-in-law, Dorothy Marshall, and of her sister, Inez Marshall. Her greatest pleasure revolved around family, and her greatest happiness was knowing her family was safe and doing well. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Inez Marshall. Memorials are suggested to a hospice organization or a charity of the donor's choice.
