His 1st wife was Betsey Ann Downes; and their children were Fred Willard and George F. They had a daughter, Bertha Etta. They can't be found from their marriage in 1868 til their death certificates. Possibly they went to Canada. Joseph's son, Fred Willard, from his 1st marriage lived with Harriett's parents in 1870-1880 and then married Harriett's sister, Amelia, in 1883.
