Description	:	WAPELLO TRIBUNE, DECEMBER 15, 1905 "Mrs. Harriet Curtis, a long time resident of Columbus Junction, died at the home of her son, E.S. Curtis, of Concord Township, at 7:30 o'clock Saturday evening, after an illness of a year or more of dropsy. Her home had been at the former place for several years until last spring, when she became too feeble to look after her home and went to the country where she had since been at the homes of her sons, E.S. and T.J.L. Curtis. She had many friends who will be sorry to know of her death.... Curtis. She had many friends who will be sorry to know of her death. Harriet Briggs was born near Lincolnshire, England, October 13, 1831, and was a little more than 74 years old at the time of her death. She came to America with her parents when 15 years of age and was married to Mr. S[eth] C. Curtis in 1852. Their home for a long time was on a farm in Concord township. Here their children were born and raised. After many years on the farm and their children all married they removed to Columbus Junction where they lived and retired life. Mrs. Curtis still kept the home until her last illness. She is survived by three sons and one daughter. The latter, Mrs. T[heodore] H. Hull [nee Francis Minerva Curtis], of Oklahoma City, O.T., was here and spent three weeks with her mother, a short time ago and did not return for the funeral. The sons are, E[dward] S[imeon] Curtis, T[homas] J[efferson] L[eland] Curtis and W[illiam] L. Curtis, all of the county. The funeral was held from the M.E. church at Letts at 11 o'clock Tuesday, conducted by Rev. L.T. Chamberlin and J.C. Kendrick. Burial at Letts cemetery."
